How To Install New Shower Doors

To remodel your shower for a new look, you could change your shower door to one that not only serves the purpose but also reflects your taste. A frameless glass shower door is among the favorite. The steps involved in installing a frameless glass shower door are as follows:

1. Measure the base and the height of your shower door. Make your measurement accurate to 1/16 of an inch as possible. It also pays to check if the tub or the tray is properly plumb so that you can make the necessary adjustment to your shower door measurement if needed. Take the measurement to your favorite hardware store and order your custom fit, frameless glass shower door.

2. Once you got your door, fasten the hinge to the hinge cut-out and tighten the screws. Don't forget to place the rubber fit between the metal hinge and the glass and attach the handle similarly.

3. With the help of another person, place the door where it should be with the hinges touching the wall in the right position. Allow a 3/8 inch clearance between the tub - or tray - for the bottom sweep to be fitted later. With a marker, mark the position of the hinge holes on the wall. Remove the door.

4. Drill a hole where you mark the wall, and insert a top grade anchor to each holes - there should be 8 holes in total. Remove the exposed tip of the anchors using a blade to clean it before fastening the door in.

5. Mount the door again and screw it in place using a drill. The systematic way for inserting the screws is to start on the outside from top to bottom holes before screwing the inside from top to bottom also. You should have the door securely in place by now.

6. The last step is to attach the vinyl sweep on the bottom of your glass door, and you're done.
