Repairing Shower

When you notice your shower head starting to deliver less forceful jet than when you first use it or when you notice the streams are pointing on different directions, then it's time to do some maintenance in it. With the proper tool, repairing shower heads is as easy as taking them off, cleaning them, and putting them back on.


Here's what you need to do.

First, you need an adjustable pipe wrench or a locking-jaw pliers and a piece of cloth to loosen the shower head. The cloth goes over your shower head bolt that attaches it to the shower head arm to protect the metal finish from scratch. You don't want the pliers or the wrench leaving a mark on your shiny shower head after the maintenance is finished.

Turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen it and continue doing so until you can take the shower head off. Repairing shower heads can just be a matter of taking a pin and individually cleaning the holes with it. Calcium as well as other compounds present in water can gradually deposit in the holes thereby clogging them. If you want to skip scrubbing and poking the holes with a pin, you can just soak your shower head in a cleaning solution that takes out these deposits overnight.

Once the shower head is cleaned, you're ready to reattach it to the shower arm ready for use. Take a Teflon tape and wrap the shower head arms thread two or three times with it in a clockwise direction. Attach your shower head to it in a clockwise direction and tighten the bolt with the wrench or the pliers you used before. Your shower head should function as if brand new again.

As you can see, repairing shower heads is pretty straightforward. You don't need a handyman to rescue you when your shower is acting a crazy; you can repair your shower head yourself.
