Shower Head Diverter

You know how useful a handheld shower head when bathing the little ones or your pet is, but unfortunately you only have the fixed one in your bathroom. Don't worry because it's easy to add a handled shower head by installing a shower head diverter to your shower arm. Shower head diverters are available in all finish in any hardware or home improvement stores so that finding one that matches your existing shower head should be a breeze.


Here are the steps in installing a shower head diverter to your shower arm.

1. Take off your shower head using lock-jaw pliers by turning the shower arm bolt counter clockwise until the shower head is loosen. Don't forget to wrap the bolt with a piece of cloth before locking in the pliers to protect the metal finish from scratch.

2. Replace the Teflon tape on the shower arm thread with new one before screwing in place the shower head diverter. Wind the tape clockwise two to three times in the shower arm thread to ensure a tight fit.

3. Attach the diverter by screwing it to the shower arm thread clockwise until it's tightened and in the correct position.

4. With the shower head diverter in place, reattach the fixed shower head to it by turning it clockwise this time. Don't forget to place Teflon tape on the diverter thread to allow tight fitting.

5. The final step is to attach the handheld shower to the diverter ready for use.

The diverter also comes with an installation instruction so that you can install it the right way without needing the help of a plumber. Now you can switch between the fixed shower head and the handheld one by pulling or turning the shower head diverter.
